I hold a joint doctorate in Chinese Studies from the University of Zurich and the University of Warsaw and additionally, an MA degree in Sociology from the University of Warsaw. In 2015 my dissertation entitled «Literary Body Discourses. Corporeality, Gender and Class Difference in Contemporary Chinese Women’s Poetry and Fiction» was awarded the annual research prize by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Zurich. Between 2009 and 2013 I was a PhD fellow on the URPP “Asian and Europe” at the University of Zurich. After completion of my PhD, I worked in the Chinese Studies Department of the University of Zurich as a lecturer (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) and a postdoctoral fellow. In Summer 2021 I joined the University of Bern as a senior lecturer with tenure track (Assistentdozentin). Currently, I am teaching modern Chinese language and developing a new study program dedicated to modern Chinese language and the history and culture of Chinese-speaking regions.

My main research interests are modern and contemporary Chinese-language literature and culture, Chinese-language poetry, transnational feminism, ecocriticism and nonconfrontational cultural activism. Since 2011 I have coorganized a number of international workshops dedicated to a broad range of topics, such as Chinese responses to the Anthropocene (2015), Chinese utopianism (2018) and the newest trends in contemporary Chinese and Sinophone poetry (2022). I am also an active member of the academic community and serve as Board Member and Vice Secretary of the European Association for Chinese Studies.
